Diapason makes hand crafted speakers in
the Italian tradition. They are a product of love as much
as anything else. The Adamantes III monitor
is a stunning acheivement, hand made from a solid piece
of Canaletto Walnut, and featuring custom made SEAS drivers
and a directly coupled woofer without crossover, the Diaposon
Direct Drive Technology. Sensitivity is high at 91 dB with
a nominal 6 ohm impedence, dropping to 3.4 at 200 hz. Their
sound is neutral and transparent with a finely detailed
and refined midrange. They favor acoustic music and vocals,
but will rock when asked to. Lacquer finish is standard.
Matching iron and wood stands bolt to the speakers. A special
hand rubbed and very labor intensive oil finish is available
with matching stands.
The Micra III, described by 6moons.com at the 2015 Montreal
Audio Show, "the tiny Italian-made
Diapason Series Classica Micra III speakers were to me the
budget speaker of the show. Built in Brescia, they betray
a luthier’s devotion to form and beauty. And they
imaged better than almost every other speaker in Montreal."
